Yamuna is Ready and Racing
Local racer Yamuna Sternbeck returned to the track this month in a big way, taking out the day at Willowbank in the first meet for the 2026 Formula Ford Championships.

It’s been a year since Yamuna Sternbeck has been in the driver’s seat.
After writing off her last car in a crash, Yamuna smashed back onto the scene with a win at Willowbank in the Formula Ford meet.
“I was just so pumped to be back in the car,” the seventeen year old said.
Yamuna admitted she was really just getting back into the swing of things.
“Was quite interesting, I didn’t know how it would go,” she said.
Yamuna wasn’t necessarily nervous, she was just happy to be back doing what she loves.
“As soon as I’m on the grid, the engines were roaring, I was back into race mode,” she said.
Yamuna will be racing for a spot in the Queensland championships, entry for which will be based on the aggregate score across seven Formula Ford meets.
While Yamuna was happy with the performance, she says that she’s still focused on improving.
Formula Ford is generally considered the first step for aspiring professional racers.
After finishing school last year Yamuna is working for her Dad, and main sponsor, and focusing on racing.
Yamuna will be racing next at Morgan Park in Warwick, her home track.
After her win over the first weekend of the month in the first meet, Yamuna is top of the leaderboard.
At 14 Yamuna was the youngest racer in the Formula Vee comp, and the only female driver in Queensland.
