Last Thursday, our Year 6 students enjoyed a morning in town as part of their graduation program.
They met Miss Stansbie and Mrs de Nooyer at Finch Café for breakfast. It was wonderful to see the students out in the community, demonstrating maturity as they confidently placed their orders and displayed excellent manners.
The students then walked to City Hall, where they enjoyed additional refreshments and a guided tour of the building by Mayor Geoff McDonald.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our students.
They explored various areas of City Hall, including the balcony where the clock is wound, sat in the Mayor’s chair and practised moving motions, walked across the stage in the Annex Auditorium, and visited meeting rooms where important decisions are made.
The morning also provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with leaders from other small schools and speak with Mayor McDonald, Councillor Carol Taylor, and Councillor Bill Cahill.
This experience was far more interactive than in previous years, and students thoroughly enjoyed it, even receiving a small gift bag with a magnet and pin at the end of the session.
