Boost for Allora Heavy Horse Festival
The Darling Downs Heavy Horse Festival (DDHHF) in conjunction with the Warwick Gold Cup have been awarded funding from the State Government.
The Allora based Darling Downs Heavy Horse Festival and the Warwick Rodeo & Gold Cup Campdraft have secured a combined $104,000 over two years from TEQ.
This represents almost 10 per cent of the $1.17 million awarded to 21 events across Queensland.
President of the DDHHF Clint Kenny is thrilled to receive over 2 years of support under TEQ’s Homegrown’ Destination Event Fund.
“This funding recognises the Heavy Horse Festival as a signature event on the regional event calendar and allows us to continue to improve the event, enhance the visitor experience and promote our region to a broader audience,” he said.
The other benefit is the crowds that the festival draws into host town of Allora.
“The other great thing of course is that by building the Heavy Horse Festival, we’re hopefully bringing more people into Allora and the region” Mr Kenny said.
The Darling Downs Heavy Horse Festival is held each year on a weekend in March at the Allora Showgrounds.
